Now with SIL 3 Compliance!
Sitecna® has announced that their Filter Regulators, Volume Boosters, Quick Exhaust Valves, Spool Valves and Pressure Sensing Switching Valves have all successfully passed TUV testing of Functional Safety for SIL3 compliance. This is of great benefit for critical operation control valve instrumentation requirements demanding absolute reliability by demonstrating reliability data against international standards of testing.

Global Success for Sitecna Brings Prices Down
(Posted 03/06/2016 15:10)
The worldwide success of the Italian manufactured Sitecna® pneumatic instrumentation and air preparation range has allowed them to increase efficiencies in manufacture with the result that the prices have come down! The range offers aluminium or 316L stainless steel constructions where all items have ATEX certification and are EAC compliant. The well known performance and quality is still there but the cost of manufacture has come down which has reflected in the new prices this week. Contact us now for the new prices on filter regs, volume boosters, spool valves, quick exhaust valves and much more.

New Cryogenic Solenoid Valve Design Overcomes Freezing Problem
The new L90 series valve has been developed from the established L89 model that has been successfully operating in cryo plants across the globe for many years. The valve was developed as a particular plant had a system where even the normally reliable L89 was failing to fully open and an extensive investigation found that it wasn’t a problem of the valve construction.
Conventional valve “sticking” is caused by humidity or dirt freezing at cryogenic temperatures and bridging the close tolerances of the moving components. Instead the cause was related to the fluid conditions within a complex LN2 regulation circuit for a very big climatic chamber where in a very particular set of conditions the valve would not fully open.
In order to resolve the problem for the client, the valve manufacturer Nadi Srl of Italy made some radical changes to the valve internal design which proved highly successful when installed and this higher performance valve assembly has now been standardised as the L90, completely superseding the old L89 model.
All body material, size and certification options from the L89 are carried forward to the new valve and this enhanced performance is available now.

The change in certificates harmonises the requirements for Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus which removes the need for different national certificates but adds complexity in that the product nameplate markings do vary dependent on the country of destination.

All of the Sitecna® range of air preparation and flow control products are now covered by this certification ahead of the official changeover date. The previous certification was provided as standard across these products but the requirement for different markings depending on the destination now means that we can only provide this compliance to order when the end-

Recently a power station had a coil fail on a solenoid valve. Normally this wouldn't be a major problem but in this case the valve was effectively the weak link in the system and the plant stopped generating, costing them £10 million. The coil was replaced for a few pounds and is still working reliably today but as we pointed out, there was still a risk of failure because nothing else had been put into place to prevent another costly outage.
We suggested to the client that due to the potential cost of another shutdown, that it would be worth fitting a replacement solenoid valve that incorporated redundancy and a Nadi C90 1oo2 dual redundant solenoid valve was proposed. This would maintain correct operation if one of the coils failed and prevent another outage from the same cause.
It was declined by the client because it cost more than the £15.00 replacement coil. No consideration was given to the potential disruption of service or cost of a future failure and so far it's still working.
Would this result support the argument that they made a sound commercial decision, saving a couple of hundred pounds and an hour in labour? Would you take that risk?

Thermal mass flowmeters are ideal for dry gas measurement as they are independent of pressure or temperature changes and offer very fast response times.
The CS 400 range of insertion type sensors and the CS 420 range of inline sensors offer a cost effective means to achieve accurate monitoring in applications such as:
With mass flow, volumetric flow or velocity outputs in line pressures up to 50Bar, the CS 400 can accommodate any pipe wall thickness using the engraved depth scale on the stem and is available to suit pipe sizes up to DN1500. Available with or without LCD display, it offers a 4-
The CS 400 units simplify installation by fitting into existing 1/2” tappings or we can provide a hot tapping drill for fitting to live pipework. The inline meters series CS 420 allow the meter head to be removed for calibration or replacement without dismantling pipe sections.

We’ve just returned from another successful exhibition, this time in Manchester at the EIC Connect Oil & Gas supplier event. This 2 day event included seminars and the ever popular one to one meetings with buyers from operators and EPC contractors.
Thanks to our current customers that took the time to visit us here and the delegates that came to find us and discuss our product ranges.
Our Sitecna® product display attracted a lot of interest and directly led to a large project enquiry on the first day of the show!
Our next exhibition is the HazardEx local event in Swansea and we hope to see you there.

We had a recent request for a 3 way diverting valve to prove the effectiveness of a new process in the baking industry. The valve had to fit with an existing pipe layout and very specific requirements on the flow paths for the open and closed position. Unfortunately due to time constraints we couldn’t supply the valve with triclamp connections and the customer decided on flanges as shown.
This is a 2” Tee ported ball valve in CF8M stainless steel fitted with spring return pneumatic actuator and upon receipt of this unit we decided to check the operation of the valve prior to fitting the namur solenoid valve.
Our newly finished workshop allowed us to quickly identify that the valve configuration received was opposite to that ordered and it was a simple procedure to rectify it and re-
Our workshop will develop further with more test rigs and instruments yet to be installed so that we can ensure all products we supply are fully tested. In this case we were able to maintain a quick delivery for the client and prevent any problems from delaying their tests.

We offer a wide range of EN161 compliant solenoid valves for natural gas. Pictured here are a selection of sizes up to 4" DN100 from our autoreset range of aluminium bodied normally closed solenoid valves suitable for natural gas up to 360mBar. Ideal for use in plant rooms, burner systems and gas trains, they offer excellent flow characteristics and rugged construction.
We also offer the same sizes in manual reset function for systems where direct operator input is required for safety before the gas is allowed to flow.
For more stringent applications where the valves may be in a potential explosive atmosphere, need to work with higher pressures or require other functions and options, we can supply solenoid valves up to 8" DN200 and suitable for pressures up to 40Bar. Other options include position feedback switches, ATEX certified coils, flanged or threaded connections, a wide range of body materials, slow opening or slow closing designs, double coils, two stage flow control and further custom operations on request.
For line sizes above 8", we can still provide EN161 compliance but the valves require an additional compressed air pilot supply.
If you need an EN161 solenoid valve for natural gas duty, we will have a solution in our range. Call us now to discuss the best one for you. +44(0) 1443 772500

Production processes in the pharmaceutical, food, beverage, or semiconductor industries require a particularly high purity of compressed air to ensure product quality and safety. The compact CS 120 is available for fixed installation or portable duty, is easy to use and provides fast results. The integrated automatic calibration ensures highest accuracy and long term stability. Sensor contamination and lifetime is monitored and displayed via status information to the user. To protect the sensor from exceeding maximum permissible oil contents, a safety valve will switch the sampling air to a bypass position.
